【精析】 愛好體育的同學(xué)一定知道有些賽事分上、下半場，其表達法是：上半場in the first half (of the match), 下半場in the second half (of the match)。短語中介詞用in，并且序數(shù)詞前要加定冠詞the。

2. 【原文】 I play for our school's Aussie rules football team. (L. 64) play一詞在體育比賽中有那些用法？

【精析】 play后接運動名詞，表示從事某運動，運動名詞前無冠詞，如：play volleyball。play for可表示"效力于某運動隊"，如：Which team do you play for? 而play against有"與......對陣"的意思，如：We are going to play against the American team.

此外，介詞against（反義詞for）有"與......比賽；與......對陣；抗擊；對抗"等意思，如本課中的You said your next match was against a girls' team. 再如：

We are for peace and against war. 我們贊成和平，反對戰(zhàn)爭。

We will fight against the enemy. 我們要抗擊敵人。

Why are you always against me? 你為什么總是跟我作對？

3. 【原文】 sport, game, match, race這四個詞在表示"比賽"這一意思時，有區(qū)別嗎？

【精析】 這四個詞在表示某項賽事時，各有側(cè)重。

sport通常指戶外運動，如足球、籃球、劃船、游泳等，還可作"運動會"講。例如：

Skating is one of the winter sports. 滑冰是冬季運動的一種。

We are going to have a school sports meeting next week. 下周我們要舉行一次學(xué)校運動會。

game一方面指戶外的體力運動，也指智力方面的運動，如游戲，下棋等，也可以表示大型運動會。如：

Children are playing a game. 孩子們正玩游戲。

The Olympic Games will be held in Beijing in 2008. 2008年奧運會將在北京舉行。

match常用于預(yù)先安排好的正式比賽。如：

The American team won the football match. 美國隊贏了足球賽。

race主要用于賽跑，賽車等速度比賽。如：

Who can win the relay race, Class 3 or Class 4?誰會贏得接力賽，一班還是二班？
