A：In Prepared contest，you have about four minutes to take your speech. Something important is you have to speech without draft，then，you will face the Impromptu speech, after you choose the question, you have 40s to prepare, 2 minutes to answer. And judges may raise questions according to your speech.

I have a friend who just started his career as a teacher in a primary school. Weeks ago, he asked me to raise a topic for his midterm composition test. I was curious why he chose me to give a topic, because he is a teacher himself. He said that he wanted something the students can really show their different ideas. Without thinking, I told him to let his students write about what they would do if they were given one million US dollars. My friend left with satisfaction, and I fell into my old memories. It reminded me of my old days in primary school. We were learning to do narration in the fifth grades Chinese class. Our teacher required us to write a composition with the topic My Most Unforgettable Day with our real experience. When papers came back, half of the students wrote about the first day they came to school. The rest of the compositions were all about picking money on the streets and giving it to policemen, or helping a blind man cross the street. Of course I was among them. But I remember very clearly, that one student, only one student gave something different. He wrote about the day that he first kissed a girl. I read his composition. After all these years, I cant recite every word, but I dare to say, that even Shakespeare, may not be able to write as equally good when he was 11 years old. The composition was written out of real experience and genuine emotions. Contrary to those fake stories, it sounds real and natural. But the kid was scored zero. Our teacher thought the content was unhealthy, Im sure you know the meaning of this Chinglish word unhealthy. That was 15 years ago. When you read those compositions, and you feel that half of our population is blind, so all those kids could have a chance to help a blind man cross the street, and every one of us has a hole in our pocket, so all those kids could have a chance to pick up the lost money and give it to policemen. A few days ago, my friend sent me an email of all the copies of his students compositions. I have to say, I was sadly disillusioned. Among those papers 40% said that they wanted to donate the money to people in poverty, so their children can go to school. The rest compositions are much more alike. Some wanted to support the panda protection project, some wanted to buy books to enlarge their knowledge. One student even said that he would like to spend his one million dollars on the effort to cure AIDS. I was more astonished to find that a ten yearold child knew what AIDS really is. We all have been kids, and we knew what we had once wanted. But, there was no composition about spending the money on video games, nice clothes, chocolates, icecreams and expensive toys. Like 15 years ago, students wont tell the truth of their hearts. It has always been our dream to open our childrens hearts. We encourage them to describe their dreams, and acted as if we are ready to accept their thoughts. But the fact is that, children are scared by the zero marked on their papers. They are trained to say what we want to hear. People compare children to flowers of tomorrow. And parents dream about the scenery that roses, tulips, daffodils flourish in the future. But down the road we are going on, in the future, or the future of future, only one kind of flower can be found. And thats the flower we like most.

Although the 2008 Olympics are still three years away, another special competition has already started in Nanchang. This time, the competitors are not the athletes from all over the world, but the people living in Nanchang. The special competition is not held in a stadium, but in every street and every corner of Nanchang. I suppose some of you may have already guessed what the special competition is. Yes, it is the competition of protecting our environment and creating a green Nanchang for the 2008 Olympic Games.
Several years ago, I was very lucky to have an opportunity to live in the United States for about two years. I not only enjoyed the beautiful environment there, but also appreciated the American peoples active way of protecting their environment. Now, whenever the environment protection is mentioned, a beautiful view of California will arise in my mind: white clouds flying across the blue sky, green grassplot sprinkled with colorful flowers and small animals playing happily among the trees.
The positive actions of American people and the effective measures the American government takes in environment protection fully won my respects and deeply affected my consciousness in environment protection.
When I was back in China, people often asked me: " What do you think of America?" I always bolt out:" Wonderful, especially the beautiful environment." Frankly speaking, after several years, the faces of my American teachers and friends have gradually faded away from my mind, but the blue sky, green grass and lovely animals in California often arise in my mind, and became my dream of visiting there again.
I remember that at the beginning of my coming to America, I often went to my fathers working place, the United States Geological Survey, to have fun. Each time I found a lot of people riding bicycles to their offices. Among the cyclists, an old man with white hair attracted my attention. Curiously, I asked my father," Why does the old man ride his bike to work every day? Doesnt he have enough money to buy a car?" Father laughed, "No, not because of money. Actually, he is one of the greatest scientists in the world. He can afford to buy a motorcade if he likes. He is just an environmentalist and usually doesnt drive unless going shopping, or in bad weather. In America, there are a lot of environmentalists, who actively protect their environment. For example, in Palo Alto city we are living now, there is even a bicycle-to-work day on May 19th every year to encourage people to decrease air pollution caused by cars".
Later, I also learnt another interesting fact of environment protection there. In some states of America, in order to decrease air pollution, save energy and reduce traffic jams, state governments encourage people to take buses to work or to share a car among several people. They even set special "diamond lanes" in some main streets, which are only for the vehicles with 2 or more people.
From now on, if every student who is driven to school can take bus or ride bicycle to school once a week, if every car owner goes to work in a car pool once a week, we can make a difference. If everyone can actively protect the environment in our daily life, the blue sky, green grass and lovely animals in California will appear in Nanchang.
Tiny streams can combine into a vast ocean, small trees can together be an immense forest. Nanchang is often described as a beautiful and aged picture. If every Nanchang citizen adds a trait of green on the picture, the whole Nanchang will become an ocean of green. Let us unite together to win the competition of environment protection in Nanchang, and present the world a big gold medal. That is "Green Nanchang, Great Olympics "

X:Well this Competition is organized by Qingdao Huanghai College and sponsored by -------- This Competition is undertaken by Foreign Language Department、In todays Grand Final,there 15 finalists;they are all the winners of the preliminaries.These contestants have given very impressive performances,So,we know that today will be a very rigorous competition. X:Thank you ,professor------now let me introduce the regulations of this final.The Final consist of four parts, namely showing myself,prepared speech, impromptu speech, and questions and answers. Y:本次大賽由四部分組成：自我展示、指定主題演講(脫稿)、即興演講、現(xiàn)場(chǎng)問答四部分。
X: In the first section each of the contestants will have 1-2 minutes to show themselves,they can show off their skills in singing,dancing or even Kongfu.Please show off everything that makes you shine above the rest.This section the full score is 5. Y:第一部分：自我展示，時(shí)間1-2分鐘(選手可從自我介紹、才藝展示、生活理念等一方面或多方面展示自我)這部分滿分5分。
X: In the second section each of the contestants will have 3-4 minutes to deliver a prepared speech、The topic for the prepared speech is “20xx” .This section the full score is 10.
Y:第二部分;指定主題演講，主題“情系20xx”要求脫稿，時(shí)間3-4分鐘;總分10分
X:Each contestant will draw the topic of an impromptu speech 15 minutes before their performances、In the third section each of the finalists will have 2 minutes to deliver an impromptu speech、This section the full score is 5.
Y:第三部分：即興演講，采用諺語、格言以及其它形式為題，請(qǐng)老師出十幾個(gè)題目，賽前保密，提前15分鐘左右讓選手抽題，即興演講時(shí)間為2分鐘，要求緊扣題目;這部分總分5分。
X: And after that, two question masters in the judging panel will be responsible for raising questions to the contestant according to the prepared speech or the impromptu speech (one question master asks only one question)、That will be around two minutes.This section the full score is 5. Y:第四部分：現(xiàn)場(chǎng)回答，針對(duì)第二或第三部分評(píng)委老師進(jìn)行提問(1-2個(gè)問題)�；卮饡r(shí)間總共為2分鐘。這部分滿分5分。本次決賽采取25分制。
X: When the contestant’s time for each part is used up, a staff member will raise a yellow cardboard to remind the contestant of the time、The contestant must stop within 15 seconds, otherwise his or her timing score will be deducted、in the 1st section if the time is less than 1 minutes,or the prepared speech time is less than 3 minutes or the time for questions and answers is less than 1 minute 45 seconds, the contestant’s timing score will be deducted. Y:每部分的演講，不足時(shí)間酌情扣0.1～0.3分(第一部分時(shí)間不足1分鐘，第二部分不足3分鐘，第三部分不足1分45秒扣分)。當(dāng)選手每部分時(shí)間用盡時(shí)，計(jì)時(shí)員將用會(huì)舉黃牌提醒選手，選手必須在15秒鐘內(nèi)停止演講，否則扣分。
X: The judging panel will give scores on the spot、In this round, after 3 contestants finish the speech, the score of the previous 3 contestants will be announced together、After all the finalists finish the speech, the scores of all the speakers will be announced. Y:評(píng)委老師當(dāng)場(chǎng)打分，每3人公布一次分?jǐn)?shù)。最后三名選手的成績和最后的排名一起公布。
